Three structural changes define this era:
1. Authentication is table stakes.
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC aren't competitive advantages โ they're minimum requirements. The journey to p=reject is an operational necessity.
2. Reputation follows the domain, not the IP. You can't escape damaged reputation by switching ESPs. Building domain reputation through consistent, engaged sending is the long game.
3. Recipient experience drives filtering. ML-based filters analyze hundreds of behavioral signals. "Avoid saying 'free'" is obsolete. What matters: do recipients open, read, click, and reply โ or delete, ignore, and report?
๐ฏ The takeaway: Technical compliance gets you through the gate, but authentic engagement keeps you in the inbox.
