BIMI lookup

Check a BIMI record and whether its logo and VMC qualify.

Live lookup

Our server runs it live when you press the button. The same answer may be reused for up to 10 minutes, and says so when it is.

What is BIMI?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is a DNS TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain that points to your logo as an SVG file and, usually, to a mark certificate proving you own it. Mailboxes that support BIMI show the logo next to your authenticated mail, and only when DMARC is at quarantine or reject.

Reading the result

The tool reads the record and shows the logo URL (the l= tag), whether a certificate is referenced (the a= tag) and your DMARC policy. "Will be shown" combines them: a valid record on a domain whose DMARC is at enforcement. A yes means the requirements are met. Display is still each mailbox's choice.

Beat runs on the same engine, on a schedule, across all 41 checks and 25 blacklists. What it adds is asking again, noticing when an answer changes and telling you what to do about it.

Common BIMI problems

  • DMARC at p=none

BIMI is ignored entirely until DMARC is at quarantine or reject, so a perfect record on a p=none domain shows nothing anywhere.

  • No certificate

Without a mark certificate in the a= tag, Gmail will not show the logo. The certificate is issued only for a logo you can show you own, usually a registered trademark.

  • The wrong logo format

The logo must be an SVG in the SVG Tiny PS profile, served over https. A PNG, an ordinary SVG export or an http URL is ignored.
