Sending limits
The caps a mailbox or platform puts on how much one account can send: messages per day, recipients per message and recipients per day.
What it means
Mailbox services publish limits for their users. Google Workspace allows 2,000 messages per user per day (500 for trial accounts), 10,000 total recipients a day, 3,000 external recipients a day and 2,000 recipients per message, with at most 500 external. A personal Gmail account may hit the limit above 500 recipients in a message or 500 emails a day. Exchange Online sets a recipient rate limit of 10,000 recipients a day per mailbox on its business plans.
At Google, reaching a limit blocks sending for up to 24 hours. Microsoft advises Exchange Online customers who send legitimate bulk commercial email to use third-party providers that specialise in it.
Limits change without notice, so check the provider's current page.
