URIBL
A domain reputation list, URIBL.COM, that lists domains seen in unsolicited mail. Filters such as SpamAssassin check message links against multi.uribl.com.
What it means
URIBL.COM publishes its data as a DNS list that mail software queries for the domains found in a message. It offers free public DNS mirrors for low-volume users, through products such as SpamAssassin that have built-in support, blocks IPs or nameservers that send excessive queries, and sells data feeds for larger use. Its site also publishes feeds that track abused nameservers, IP addresses, MX records and registrars, so operators can act on listed domains.
The site offers a lookup page to check a domain's status and a delisting submission service, which requires an account.
As a URI list, URIBL judges the domains your messages link to, so a listing can follow a link shortener or a shared tracking domain even when your own sending domain is clean. The name URIBL is also used loosely for any URI blocklist.
