Common Mark Certificate

A BIMI mark certificate for a logo that is not a registered trademark, validated on prior use of the mark or as a modified registered mark.

What it means

CMCs open mark certificates to brands whose logo is not a registered trademark. The Mark Certificate Guidelines define two routes: a Prior Use Mark, showing a history of legitimate use of the logo, and a Modified Registered Mark, a variation of a registered trademark.

Gmail accepts CMCs for BIMI and shows the logo, but without the checkmark reserved for VMCs. The BIMI Group describes CMC support as limited so far, so check each provider's requirements before buying one.
