What it means
Case r0402 gives the same reason as cases r0401 and r0404 with a 450 reply: too many messages arrived from your system in a short time, so GMX blocked it temporarily. The message stays in your queue and is retried. GMX offers to raise the limit if you contact it through the form on the case page, and asks you to list any other IP addresses or CIDR ranges you send from. Lowering the rate on your side clears the deferrals in the meantime.
Common causes
- A burst of mail to GMX addresses from one system.
- A new IP or domain sending at high volume from the start.
How to fix it
- 01Slow the sending rate to GMX addresses and spread large sends over time.
- 02Warm up new IPs gradually.
- 03Request a higher limit through the GMX case page form, with all your sending IPs and ranges.
