SOGo as the webmail and groupware layer

Part of Mailcow: Self-Hosted Mail Server Mastery — SOGo, ActiveSync & Mobile Clients.

SOGo provides webmail, calendar (CalDAV), contacts (CardDAV), and Microsoft ActiveSync — all bound to the Mailcow user database.

Reach it at: https://mail.example.com/SOGo/

What SOGo gives you:

  • Roundcube-style webmail with conversation view
  • Personal and shared calendars
  • Personal and shared address books
  • ActiveSync (EAS) endpoint for iOS Mail and outdated Outlook

ActiveSync limits: SOGo's EAS implementation is solid for iOS but not recommended for Outlook 2019+. For Outlook, use IMAP + CalDAV (via Outlook CalDav Synchronizer) or move that user to native IMAP.

Disable SOGo entirely by editing mailcow.conf:

SKIP_SOGO=y

Then docker compose down && docker compose up -d. Frees ~500 MB RAM if you only need IMAP.
