Tier
Major. Consulted directly by the big mailbox providers and mail gateways. A listing here can block your mail almost everywhere, so a scan reports it as critical.
What it lists
IP addresses showing signs of bot/virus infections, open proxies, or other compromised behavior.
Impact
High: feeds into Spamhaus XBL, so a CBL listing effectively means you're also on Spamhaus.
How to check
Look your IP up on the operator's own site. It refuses queries sent through public resolvers, so a free checker may not see it.
How to delist
5 steps below, ending on the list's removal page.
Auto-expiry
Does not auto-expire. Self-service removal is instant but will recur if the issue isn't fixed.

How to get delisted

  1. 01Visit abuseat.org and use the IP lookup tool
  2. 02The lookup will show the specific reason for your listing
  3. 03Fix the underlying issue (malware, compromised account, misconfigured software)
  4. 04Use the self-service removal button (removal is typically instant)
  5. 05If you get re-listed, the underlying issue has not been fully resolved
