Yahoo sender requirements

Yahoo's rules for mail to Yahoo and AOL users: SPF or DKIM and a spam rate under 0.3% for everyone, plus DMARC, alignment and easy unsubscribe for bulk senders.

What it means

For all senders Yahoo requires SPF or DKIM, a spam rate below 0.3%, valid forward and reverse DNS for sending IPs and compliance with RFCs 5321 and 5322.

Bulk senders must implement both SPF and DKIM, publish a valid DMARC policy of at least p=none that passes (relaxed alignment is acceptable, and an rua reporting tag is strongly recommended), support one-click unsubscribe through the List-Unsubscribe header (the RFC 8058 POST method is highly recommended), show a visible unsubscribe link and honour unsubscribes within 2 days.

Yahoo will not specify a bulk volume threshold, says enforcement began in February 2024, and applies the rules to every consumer brand hosted by Yahoo Mail, AOL included. Its recommendations also advise against buying lists and pre-checked opt-in boxes.
