The sender. The fix is on the sending side: your domain, your server or your list.

What it means

Orange lists 99x as one row: you have been rate limited because of poor behaviour. The table does not spell out the individual codes, and since it gives 990 its own row with 989, this entry covers 991 to 999. OFR_998 and OFR_999 are the forms Orange names among its page keywords. The table does not define the behaviour either, and its resolution is short: check what you are trying to send, or try again later. Its guidelines warn about high spam report rates, mail to invalid addresses and sending without passing authentication.

Common causes

  • A high rate of spam reports from Orange users.
  • Many messages to addresses that do not exist.
  • Bursts of volume or a pattern Orange considers abusive.

How to fix it

  1. 01Review what you are sending to Orange addresses and to whom.
  2. 02Slow down and try again later.
  3. 03Fix list quality and authentication before raising volume again.
  4. 04If the problem continues after the fix, use the Orange contact form linked from its postmaster page and choose the option "Un problème d'envoi d'emails vers les adresses Orange ou Wanadoo (deliverability issue)".
