Click tracking
Rewriting each link in an email to pass through the sender's tracking server, which records the click and then redirects the reader to the real destination.
What it means
With click tracking on, the sending platform replaces every link with a unique URL on its own domain or on a branded tracking domain; SendGrid describes rewriting all links so they point to its servers or to the domain the sender branded. The click is logged and the server redirects to the original address.
Tracked links change what receivers and readers see. Link text showing one address while the link goes to another has the same shape as a phishing link, so link text is better written in words. On a platform's shared tracking domain, the domain in every link is the same one other customers use; a branded tracking domain on the sender's own domain avoids that.
