What is a CSV combiner?

A CSV combiner merges several lead spreadsheets into one file. Exports from different tools rarely share a layout: one has First Name and Email, another first_name, work email and phone. Combining them means lining up the columns that are the same, keeping the ones that are not, and listing each person once.

Reading the result

Columns whose names match, ignoring case and spaces at the ends, become one column, spelled as in the first file that has it. Every other column is kept. Each file's email column, picked for you and changeable, goes into one shared email column. With deduplication on, the first row for an address wins, in the order the files were added. Nothing is uploaded.

Common problems it finds

  • Email under different names

Email, E-mail and Work email are one field to you and three to a spreadsheet. The combiner writes each file’s email column into a single one, so deduplication sees every address.

  • Columns that almost match

First Name and first_name differ by more than case, so they stay two columns. If they are the same field, rename one in its file and add the file again.

  • One lead in two files

The same person exported twice, or bought from two providers, gets two emails from one campaign. Addresses are compared trimmed and without case.

  • Rows with no email

They cannot be deduplicated, so they are all kept and counted. The CSV list cleaner removes them if every row needs an address.
