- What the server says
550 5.7.40 Your message was blocked because the sending domain doesn't have a DMARC record…
What it means
This is the permanent form of 421 4.7.40. Bulk senders to Gmail must publish a DMARC record for their sending domain, with a policy of at least p=none. This domain has no record, or its record lacks the p= tag, so Gmail rejected the message. Publishing a valid record fixes it: v=DMARC1; p=none meets the requirement, and a rua address brings in the reports you need before tightening the policy. Then send the message again.
Common causes
- No DMARC record is published at _dmarc for the From domain.
- The record is malformed, or lacks the p= policy tag.
- The record sits on the wrong host name, such as the bare domain.
How to fix it
- 01Look up your domain's DMARC record.
- 02Publish a TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain with at least v=DMARC1; p=none, plus a rua address.
- 03Check that SPF or DKIM aligns with the From domain before tightening the policy.
- 04Resend once the record is live.
